Modern Marketing Requires Multi-Channel Effort
My mother used to tell us, "There is more than one way to skin a cat". Today, when it comes to marketing, we need to skin the cat in a variety of ways. No single method gets it done. And it is equally true that effective marketing is not what it used to be. The print media is in free fall. TV commercails have lost their glitter and effectiveness. No bang for your buck there. So what is the answer? The answer is a combination of Mobile Media / Text Marketing, Video Emails to a targeted audience and Instream Video Marketing. You can learn more about all of these by subscribing using the forms to the right.

You May Have Already Heard This: Knowledge Is Power
You probably also heard that "what you don't know won't hurt you". That is conclusive proof that you can't believe everything you hear. There may have been a time when "not knowing" was fine. That time has passed. As a self-admitted senior citizen, I am acutely aware that in order to remain current and relevant I must not only know what the young business professionals are doing but I had better be doing it with them or I will be shortly left without customers. With that in mind I am going to launch a new initiative with the specific goal of remaining relevant in a digital age. Can you say PODCAST???? Stay tuned. I will be interviewing some of our sucessful business women and men to learn and share with all of you what they see for the future and what they have experienced in the past. If you would like to be a guest on my Podcast just let me know.

The Next Generation Of Tech-Savvy Agents Use QR Codes – Are You?

If you aren’t using QR codes in your business yet, don’t worry, most agents aren’t yet either but that’s about to change soon. What is a QR code? Simply put, a QR code is a bar code that when scanned by a Smartphone camera will direct people to a destination. The most common destination is a website link but it can also be a text or SMS message or a phone number. Another way of looking at it is that a QR code is a way for you to serve information to people on their mobile phones and devices.
There are many ways of implementing QR codes. Each method should have a little blurb on how to use the technology and instruct people with Smartphone’s that they’ll need a QR reader application. So far, every major Smartphone brand has one (Blackberry, Android, iPhone, WindowsPhone, etc). There are a plethora of new QR Code services sprouting up around the Internet with comprehensive tracking abilities and so forth. These tools and resources range from being free to requiring a monthly membership at a cost. The good news is, you can get started with the technology for free and use free resources to track everything while you decide if you’d like more comprehensive reporting.
Some of the best current implementations of the technology are:
1. On Yard Signs – Picture the following: a young tech savvy couple pull up to a listing in their car and want more information about the property. They see the QR code with brief instructions on how to use it. They point their phone’s camera at the QR code, use their QR code app and snap a shot. Instantly they are brought to a mobile version of your listing’s website and retrieve all the information you wanted to share about the listing. A good resource for creating mobile-friendly versions of your listings is http://www.Vyoo.it. With Vyoo.it, you will quickly and easily optimize your listings for mobile access and the service is free.
2. On Business Cards – This is a trend you’ll see more and more for agents who want to differentiate themselves in their market place adopt. Having a QR code on the back of the card that links to your website or another online resource will set you apart as a tech-savvy agent.
3. Printed Marketing Material – On printed material, you have an opportunity to add a whole new level of richness and potential interactivity to your business. On property flyers, you’re already giving them the nuts and bolts about the listing. A QR code could enhance the flyer by linking them to a virtual tour or neighborhood video introduction on YouTube where you have a chance to connect with prospects and brand yourself further. Direct mail pieces are another media that could benefit from having a QR code that links to a video introduction as well. It’s all about creating relationships with people and video is a great way to create an instant connection.
While there are countless other ways to implement the technology, these are the most common ways agents are doing it today. How do you feel about the technology? Is it something you’ve implemented successfully? Share your thoughts!

Social Media , Mobile Media and Email Marketing Work Together
Lately, I have heard a lot of talk about Social Media versus Mobile Media (text /sms) Marketing versus email. There is little doubt that the future of marketing is on our "mobile device" formerly known as our phone. At the same time, it would be crazy to throw out low cost email marketing even if it's effectiveness is in decline. The truth is that as long as a reasonable portion or our marketing emails are read we need to continue with them. The experts tell us that a portion of our Social Media and email marketing should be directed to building a Mobile Media data base. This should be done, they say, by promoting opportunities to opt-in to text message updates, coupons, contests, surveys, etc.
Whether you are a Realtor, Restaurant or Retailer you need to look closely at the changes in the way we get our information as consumers and set you plans and programs accordingly. Affordable Mobile Media Marketing must be a part of your future. You can lead or follow but you will be in the line at some point if you stay in business. Worth A Second Look
Some Will LEAD! Some will follow ..... "Who is doing this?" "I want to wait til someone else had made it work." .... Some will simply choose to STAY BEHIND.... "We've always done it this way."
Amazingly, a world renowned economist once said regarding computers, "I think there may be a market for ten of them worldwide."
When NCR said it had no interest in a new line of products three of it's executives left to form IBM.
A group of scientists in the early nineteen hundreds stated that if a car reached a speed of 35 mph the occupants would surely suffocate.
The only thing permanent is change.
Early in my childhood my mother, God rest her soul, started implanting and enforcing values. One of the first and most important was that we should always keep an open mind. She believed that a closed mind is a dangerous thing. We've all heard the saying, "a mind is a terrible thing to waste". She believed that a closed mind is a wasted mind. So for years she made all of us say, "Minds and parachutes have to be open to work." It certainly never occurred to me that I would be using that expression in what has turned out to be an over thirty year sales career. The interesting part of this is that I have used it, as more than a value. "How?", you ask. Well, when faced with a difficult client I have asked the question, "Have you ever heard the expression 'minds and parachutes have to be open to work' ?"
In over thirty years of selling I have never had one person disagree with that statement. The important part of this is that in addition to agreeing with the statement these difficult customers and prospects immediately demonstrated that they had an open mind. Of course, that required them to listen to what I had to say. I hope you give this a try and let me know how it works for you.
Thanks,
Tony
